5000!
I just wanted to say when I first started this blog as my bug journal I thought I’d only find 3 other people to be interested in it.  I am so grateful to have met so many people that are as fascinated by the natural world as I am.  I learn every day from this process as well as from many of you. I am so pleasantly surprised that I just hit this many followers!  Thank you for making this such...

the-eccentric asked: I just wanted you to know that today, I saw a jumping spider on my bathroom mirror and I rescued it with a cup and piece of paper. It was so cute when I took it outside and it just hopped right off :D

Polyphemus Moth!
“Howdy buggirl! I just thought I would share some pictures of a recently emerged Polyphemus Moth! There are a couple more pictures on my page.”- Pulphero   Thank you for sharing this!  This beautiful boy (check out those very male antennae!) will be extra spectacular when his wings are fully filled with blood and fully extended.  I actually have a Polyphemus Moth cocoon in my fridge...

chungsun asked: Thanks for running such an awesome blog. I'm going to be teaching a unit of insects in the Spring, and I'm going to have my students look at your blog as a source of informaiton once in a while. I think they'll think that what you do is really cool, and I really want the girls to see that a cool young adult female loves bugs. Keep up the good work!

A little help.
“Hi Bug Girl, I was wondering if you could help me ID this little guy. It was photographed in Melbourne, Australia. I think it might be a Bibionidae sp, but I’m unsure. Any help will be greatly appreciated!” Brock Hi Brock!   I wish I could help but most Diptera are way beyond my amateur bug identifying capabilities…especially, Australian Diptera!  Perhaps, someone else...
