higginstheshrimp:

Photograph of two damselflies copulating, their genitals connected such that their bodies form roughly the shape of a cartoon heart, and a colored scanning electron micrograph of a damselfly penis.

Damselflies, like many other animals (including weevils, many of whose penises are barbed), have evolved penises which serve the dual purpose of sperm transfer and removal. Damselflies, like most species, are not strictly monogamous, and so male damselflies, during copulation, will scrape out the vagina of their partner to remove sperm from previous mates and improve their chance of paternity.

Goodnight everyone, I shall leave you with a Damselfly’s private parts!
