Today was Kim’s house keeping day.   I let her walk around a bit while I rinsed her jar.  She seemed spooked and unsure.  I even quickly stroked her bum, she didn’t seem to like that very much so she tried running away.  I just made sure the cats were nowhere to be found and covered her with an upside down tank while I cleaned her home.  She now has new sticks for web building and I’ll have to catch her something to eat since I threw out all her leftovers.  Can you believe how globular she’s gotten?  She’s done so very well.  I’ve had her for over a year now- maybe even two.  I’m contemplating releasing her so she can mate. Maybe I’ll just leave the lid off the jar so a boyfriend can come in. I doubt she’d leave the jar anyway because she’s so well fed.  I’m torn though.  I’m rather attached to her and I’d be putting her at risk of predation without the lid.. Ah anyway, I’ll post some more pictures of her.   Oh, and for those who are new Kim is a Western Black Widow, Latrodectus hesperus.
