“Hey Andrea! I was in Germany recently and with the warm weather came heaps of lady bugs. I found this one inside, and I’ve never seen anything like it. Is it a lady bug even?”- endsintheocean

This is definitely a Lady Bug Beetle.  It looks quite like Exochomus 4-pustulatus, the 4 spot Pine Ladybird.  But it also could be a color morph of a Twice Stabbed Ladybird as well or the Four Spotted Lady Beetle, Brachiacantha sp..  Lady Bugs can be quite confusing because there is variation among individuals of a species.  Plus, I’m not very familiar with European species.  He’s quite cute and I bet every bit as beneficial as our American species!
